MoNsTeR CaN - London 2025 - MCL5

This Monster Can is one in a series of 9, painted for the Big London Tattoo Convention, 2025

I paint and sell these guys to keep me and my kid in art supplies. It solves the problem of waste and gives me an interesting shape to put some original art and a cheeky little face onto.

Each monster can features a front face and an original pattern or picture for each back-side. In this series - MCL ,  turn all the cans, in sequence together and it will show one overarching flowing pattern, featuring castles, orbs and the brushwork that I love playing around with.

I’ve always been fascinated by the feeling of “rightness” in a line, like, what is that? It’s just a line! But no, we can FEEL when something is wrong, artistically educated or not. When I realised I could slip into a state of creating that meant that my shape of the curves in my work creates an uncanny harmony between planes. As in, if In pick one painting up and hold it over another older painting, you will always find lines of flow as though a perfect extension of the pattern underneath.

 I pick up these cans and love how, in unintended ways, they flow between each other and demonstrate this principle. It does a lot for my inner mythology, to think that my creative action and movement is part of the deeper sense of order that we see throughout the natural world.

Each can is serialised with a certificate of authenticity and will come with a few extra gifts.

Painted with acrylic and finished with a hardcore automotive clear coat.
